Common Declaration of the Mediterranean Anarchist Meeting

We, anarchists, libertarian and anti-authoritarian, together at the Mediterranean Anarchists Meeting (MAM) in Tunis on 27-28-29 March 2015, condemn the attacks of the Bardo museum but also the daily violence of religions, states and the police.

We will remain vigilant that the political exploitation of these tragic events do not come at the expense of freedoms and of the people.

We will oppose that new draconian laws are adopted and used to justify the criminalization of social movements and trade unions.

Similarly, we will fight against all attempts to use these events to justify wars in the name of "anti-terrorism".

We have no expectation of governments to defend our freedoms.

We will stay united against economic, political and religious oppression.

Let's build international solidarity in the Mediterranean and around the world for social equality and mutual solidarity.

Founding statement of the Anarchist Federation of Central America and Caribbean (FACC)

[Spanish original below, English translation with minor corrections by AF, Britain]

The F.A.C.C. is born!

After several months of preparation, pre-congress debates, and after the call for a first conference for the formation of the Anarchist Federation of Central America and Caribbean (FACC), comrades from different countries and situations in the Central and Caribbean regions (with international observers) met in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros (Dominican Republic) on 21 and 22 March this year, to test ideas, to meet and to establish differences and similarities. We express our satisfaction for the founding of FACC, which is a channel for solidarity and cooperation of anarchists in the area, transcending the border constraints that capitalism and states impose on us, a federation of trends that seeks to fan the relationships between the various groups in the region and its diaspora.

Founding members of the Federation are: Taller Libertario Alfredo López (Tlal) of Cuba, Kiskeya Libertaria of Dominican, Comrades of Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Bonaire and Miami (There are other groups that wanted to participate in the FACC congress and even to be members, but for different situations could not yet become a part of the Federation).

The federation is based on the principles of consensus, solidarity and acceptance of diversity of individuals and groups in their trends and practices, focusing on review of activity and study within the two regions, and is characterized as a federation with a horizontal organization.

According to decisions by consensus, it was agreed that the membership criteria are:
- Individuals and/or collectives that call themselves anarchist.
- Individuals or groups acting horizontally.
- One of the active member federations vouches for individuals or collective applicants.
- Unanimous consensus is required for entry of individuals or groups to the federation.
- New entrants into the federation wait a maximum of two months time to achieve unanimity in consensus.

The Federation has already formed one committee; Communications Committee, and three committees have been created by voluntary individuals who; "Anti-repressive" committee, "Anti-nationalist" committee and "Self-organising" committee.

The formation of the Federation marks a milestone in the history of the anarchist movements in the regions, since never before has a space existed to share experiences and work together critically.

We have chosen the path of freedom and horizontality and ask that our allied comrades elsewhere join us in this new journey towards this ancient ideal, one that is constantly renewed, to result in anarchy!

Anarchists protest in Athens on Parliament steps. 1st April 2015 Today, after a call out for international solidarity, a group of 15-20 anarchists in Greece, in parallel with a continued stand off at the occupied Athens university building, occupations of a town hall and a Syriza office, and protests within the prisons, held a protest on the steps of the Parliament against repressive laws and to support imprisoned hunger striker. It is quite unusual for any protest to get on to the steps of the parliament, and the group were all detained:

Watch video of the protest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ayl16jTX_HQ

This is a significant struggle in Greece at the moment. Like the case with the hunger strike of Romanos back in December there is a hunger strike in the prisons and a struggle outside using various different means - occupations (Syriza office, and now the University of Athens), protests/riots, counter-information and interventions at radio stations, etc. The hunger strike of DAK (see below) has united various imprisoned anarchists and others around the demand to remove high security prisons (a recent creation of the previous government) and anti-terrorist laws.

Before today's protest the Greek IWW sent out this solidarity message:

Industrial Workers of the World – Greece. International Call for Revolutionary Solidarity with the Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike

At the present moment, the imprisoned anarchists, members of DAK (Network of imprisoned social fighters), A. Stampoulos, A. Theofilou, G. Karagianidis, D. Politis, F. Charisis, A. Dalios, D. Mpourzoukos, G. Sarafoudis, G. Michailidis, the members of the “Revolutionary Struggle” N. Maziotis and K. Gournas, the member of “17th of November” D. Koufontinas, a number of Turkish political prisoners and the prisoners G. Sofianidis and M. S. Eltsibach, are on a hunger strike, fighting against the repressive legal state of exception which has been established by the Greek state since the beginning of 2000.

Starting on March 2nd, along with the comrades outside the prison walls, we commenced a struggle for the abolition of type C high security prisons, the abolition of “antiterrorist” law, the abolition of the “hoodlaw”, the radical change in the process of taking and identification of DNA samples, the release of the seriously sick member of 17N S. Ksiros.

The struggle for the fulfillment of these demands is a struggle against the core of the state of emergency. It is a struggle against the core of the new totalitarianism which has been enforced by the state of Greece, as well as by the rest of the states globally. Recognizing the fact that the nexus of dominance’s designs transcends the narrow geographic borders of national states, we call all Fellow Workers to support this fight and to act in solidarity on the 1st of April, sending a message of revolutionary unity.

VICTORY TO THE STRUGGLE OF THE HUNGER STRIKERS

IMMEDIATE FULFILLMENT OF ALL THE DEMANDS

FOR THE ABOLISH OF STATE AND CAPITALISM

The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) in Greece support the demands of political detainees that went on hunger strike since 2nd of March. We call FW’s throught the world to express their solidarity to the hunger strikers on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1st, 2015.

The following message is passed on from the FdA (German-speaking Anarchist Federation, part of the International of Anarchist Federations)

12th March 2015

After the Greek elections from January 25, 2015 the left-wing party Syriza took over the government in a coalition with the national-conservative party of the Independent Greeks.

As Anarchist Radio Berlin we talked to comrades from Greece in order to learn more about what to expect from this new government, as anarchists but also as part of the autonomous and self-organization movements.

We can present you two audios that cover different aspects of how to look at the Greek situation today. One interview was made with Leonidas from the anarchist hip-hop collective Social Waste, the other with three members of the Athens-based Group of Libertarian Communists.

You'll find both audios (to listen online or download in different sizes) here:

1) Social Waste - Length: 10:04 min

2) Group of Libertarian Communists -Length: 17:33 min

Enjoy! And please feel free to share!
